With Dwayne Wade having retired in 2019, he has since passed the torch on to CJ McCollum and Jimmy Butler, who were both included in this year’s round-up of active NBA and WNBA players’ signature kicks — to lead Li-Ning’s presence in the NBA. Despite Wade’s absence from the league, his signature shoe line — the Way of Wade series — with Li-Ning has pressed onwards and continues to do so now with the introduction of the Li-Ning Way of Wade 11.
While storytelling has always been a focal point of the line, the Way of Wade 11 hones in on it even more with referential detailing throughout its build. The overall design is inspired by Afrofuturism as key notes range from nodding to Wade’s three championships with the Miami Heat, his daughter’s name and more. As for its major tech specifications, a leather upper is joined by a carbon core drive system for stability and energy return, as well as a GCU outsole with premium grip. Launching first in a “305” look dedicated to Miami, of which the local area code is 305, it combines an off-white base with accents in black and red around the heel and uppermost section of the sneaker. “The Li-Ning Way of Wade 11 is more than just a shoe; it’s a representation of my ongoing journey and the next chapter of my evolution,” Wade remarked.
