SAGE NATION Reinterprets Classic Satorial Codes for SS25

Fresh off Paris Fashion Week, London-based label SAGE NATION previewed the first looks of its Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Formed in 2019, the brand taps into founder Sage-Toda Nation’s British-Japanese heritage through a tasteful blend of tailoring, reinterpreting timeless workwear staples for a modern lens.

Having recently teased its forthcoming line for Fall/Winter 2024, the following is equally centered around fabric and color through oversized pants that taper up into slightly fitted silhouettes throughout the model’s top or jacket. Standouts within the collection include a matching gridded navy work shirt and pant, with the bottom having a subtle pocket opening. While palettes are kept largely neutral — grey, navy and taupe dominating the collection — several pieces, namely a bright cobalt wool jumper, offer a pop of color to signal the changing of the seasons.

There is a certain duality that pervades the design process for SAGE. Where in Japan, it’s generally understood that rules are first to be learned and adhered to, in Britain, “the way is more to learn the rules by breaking the rules,” the label’s founder has said in the past. He carries a balancing of both in the construction of SAGE NATION’s garments — which strikes a harmony between fitted and oversized.
