Onitsuka Tiger SS25 Is for the Wandering Youth in Us All

Onitsuka Tiger is growing up – and what better place to boast the joys and ruminate the hardships than during its 75th anniversary on the Milan Fashion Week runway?

As the label continues to age, it also continues to earn its stripes and stamp its influence on the high fashion world. Its latest genderless, genre-blurring foray – entitled “Urban Moves” – is one that chronicles all of the complexities of growing up and compiles them into a cohesive, 50-look journey of a collection.

“The collection’s pace and rhythm are attuned to any metropolis and fueled by the inner fire of youthful ambition and desire,” explains the collection notes. “Inspired by youth wandering in a journey of exploration moving to the pulse of global urban beats, the collection depicts a raw and honest portrayal of growth in which vulnerability and strength, intimacy and self-expression coexist.”

The showcase begins with an all-black assortment of garments, including lacy looks, pleated pants and shorts, oversized blazers and collared jacketing. Color is introduced in the fourteenth look, extrapolating the emotions of adolescence into the collection’s aesthetic composition. Textures also begin to stand out, surfacing in the form of bejeweled details on dresses, and holographic fringe on tops.

A sleek selection of white looks follows suit, spanning collared shirts, tuxedo vests and more structured jackets, again working to “highlight the frictions and contradictions of youth by morphing quotidian fashion tropes into tokens of evolution and edgy insignia of belonging.” A set of nude-toned garments close out the presentation, seeing skin dresses, draped tops and stockings crafted in collaboration with Wolford.
